Herding Group

Herding dog group overview

The Herding Group is made up of intelligent, energetic dogs originally bred to control livestock such as sheep, cattle, and goats. Known for their quick learning ability and strong work ethic, these dogs excel not only on farms but also as companions for active families. Most herding breeds weigh between 30 to 70 pounds (14 to 32 kg) and stand 18 to 24 inches (46 to 61 cm) tall, giving them the strength and agility needed for their work.

Today, herding dogs are prized for their loyalty, responsiveness, and protective instincts. Breeds like the Border Collie are celebrated for their incredible intelligence, while the Australian Shepherd brings boundless energy and devotion to its family. The German Shepherd is another well-loved herding breed, admired for its versatility as both a worker and protector.
