Category - Texas Heeler

What they are:
The Texas Heeler is a high-energy cross most commonly between an Australian Cattle Dog (Blue Heeler) and an Australian Shepherd or other herding breed, producing a medium-sized, agile working dog. Coats are typically short to medium with blue or red mottling and tan markings.

Temperament:
Texas Heelers are intelligent, driven and intensely loyal. They inherit strong herding instincts and thrive on having a job. They can be wary of strangers and form tight bonds with their families.

Care & exercise:
Exercise needs are high—long walks, herding work, agility, fetch and structured training sessions keep them mentally and physically happy. Grooming is moderate—regular brushing reduces loose hair. Health checks should watch hips, eyes and potential breed-specific concerns.

Best suited for:
Experienced, active owners, ranches and families who can provide consistent training, tasks and plenty of daily activity for a highly driven herding dog.
